The organiser of EFTTEX – Europe’s premier fishing tackle trade show – says that it will go ahead as planned in June.
This is despite growing fears surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in an unprecedented number of fishing show cancellations already this year. EFTTA, the organiser of the show, which is due to take place in Prague from June 11th to 13th, says that it is continuing to ‘confidently’ plan for the event.
The news followed hot on the heels of a similar announcement from the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) that ICAST, due to be held a month later than EFTTEX in Florida, will also go ahead.
EFTTA General Manager Janet Doyle said: “We are carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the Czech Republic and are in close contact with our partners at the venue. As it stands, the Czech government has temporarily suspended trade fairs and other events at the venue, with a view to resuming them in the spring.
“Bearing in mind our duty of care and considering the needs of our exhibitors, visitors, members, partners and staff, we will continue to assess the situation and release updates as things change. We feel strongly that it is our responsibility to focus on the facts and act with common sense, taking advice from the relevant authorities.”
