France’s Carrefour National Pêche & Loisirs at Clermont-Ferrand continued its upward trend with increases in both exhibitors and visitors at this year’s show.

The curtain-raiser to the European tackle show season is established as one of the most important events of its kind in the region and an indication as to the state and health of the industry in France.

Some of the biggest names in world fishing, including Shimano, Rapala, Daiwa, Svendsen Sport and Sensas, were among the 160 exhibitors who attended the event which included newcomers Garmin Europe, Westin and Art Fishing.

A total of 24,000 visitors attended over the three-day event – an increase of 2,000 from the previous year.

Clèment Posada, of the organiser Centre France Evènements, said: “The show once again confirmed that it is the number one venue in France for freshwater fishing and it continues to prove very attractive to exhibitors as we receive a growing number of requests from companies to take part.

“We had great feedback from exhibitors and great coverage on social media. Our Facebook page now has nearly 12,000 fans.”

Next year’s event will take place from January 13th to 15th.
