Less than a month after being bought itself, major US fishing boat manufacturer, Century Boats, has announced an acquisition.
It has purchased Vanquish Boats less than a month after the announcement that its parent company, Allcraft Marine, had been taken over by private equity group, Sorfam Capital.
Lloyd R. ‘Skip’ Sorenson, CEO of Century Boats, said: “Vanquish is known for producing stunning designs in the New England tradition, rooted in timeless quality and craftsmanship. This merger represents a natural expansion of our model portfolio which will be mutually beneficial across our line of fishing and family boats.
“Vanquish will be rebranded as Century Coronado in recognition of the acclaimed range of Century Boats produced through the mid-20th century.”
Morgan Huntley, the owner of Vanquish Boats, will stay on as Chief Operating Officer of Century Boats and continue to lead the production and product development for the company. He said: “Becoming a part of Century Boats is the next best step as it has the experience, production capacity and legacy brand recognition that will ensure more boating families will be able to experience and enjoy these amazing craft.”
