Italian tackle specialist Carson has launched two new all-purpose reels with a view to strengthening its position in the Russian and eastern European markets.

The Carson Tricast ST and Procast ST are designed to suit all types of fishing. They have been included in a portfolio of tackle, which also includes Carson’s Carbon Partner rods, which have been specifically designed for Russia and eastern Europe.

The Carson Tricast ST and Procast ST reels boast nine stainless steel ball bearings and an ergonomically designed handle and grip. They are said to deliver an extremely fluid action and a smooth release of the bail release system.

The Tricast models have a 7BB+ one-way clutch on the aluminium and graphite spools. The Procast reels have two 4BB+ one-way graphite spools.

Gear ratios on the Tricast 2000 and 3000 are 5.0:1. It weighs 220g and has a spool dimension of 0.20mm/115m. The 3000 version weighs 320g and has spool dimensions of 0.25/160.

Both the 2000 and 3000 Procast ST models have similar gear ratios to the Tricasts, with the Procast ST 2000 weighing 280g and having spool dimensions of 0.20/115, while the 3000 weighs 290g and has a 0.25/160 spool.

The new Carson Partner rods are short, high strength carbon rods perfect for casting heavy weights. Carson says they are likely to be equally appreciated by sea anglers as well as lovers of trout fishing in small ponds and little streams.

From its base in Torino, Italy, Carson has been manufacturing fishing tackle for more than 60 years. Its portfolio includes reels and rods for all types of fishing, braided line, Italian-made floats and the famous Heron brand of spinners and spoons.

“Our purpose is to make fishing accessible to everybody by delivering reliable quality and outstanding service,” says owner Marco Fortini. “We are especially interested in hearing from distributors in eastern Europe and Russia.”
