North American rod brand, Carrot Stix, marked the setting up of an Asian network with its first appearance at China Fish.

The business got off the ground last year and has already established a partnership with distributor PureBlue in China. Korne Yu, Pacific Asian Representative for Carrot Stix, told Angling International that the region presented ‘huge’ potential for the brand.

“There are over 20 territories within the region that we will be targeting. However, we will be developing the market slowly. The brand is recognised, but we need to educate them and tell them how good it is.

“For 2016, if we can strike two distribution agreements that would be great.”

Carrot Stix, a double winner in the freshwater and saltwater rod categories at ICAST in 2007, surprised the market by incorporating carrot fibres in its construction and has enjoyed continued success in North America.
