Browning adds top UK matchman to its ambassador ranks

Thumbs up to the future. Jon Whincup has become an ambassador for Zebco Europe match brand, Browning.

European match fishing brand, Browning, has announced the addition of one of the UK’s top tournament anglers to its ranks of ambassador.

Jon Whincup, winner of countless matches and fishing festivals, including the top prize money of £70,000 from a single competition, has switched from UK-based fishing tackle accessories manufacturer, Frenzee, which is currently for sale after being put on the market earlier this year.

Whincup said: “Now that the secret is finally out, I would just like to thank everyone at Frenzee for the last five or six years. I really enjoyed my time there and some of the biggest achievements of my angling career so far came during my time there. 

“I made some lifelong friends, but – as they say – life moves on and I couldn’t be happier to be joining the mighty Browning and I look forward to what the future holds.” 

Simon Henton, Senior Sales Manager at Browning brand owner, Zebco Europe, said: “To be honest, after we took Craig Edmunds on board earlier this year we were not particularly looking to extend the ranks, but anglers of Jon’s quality don’t come along often so we pushed the boat out to ensure we could include him among our sponsored anglers.”

Whincup will join anglers of the calibre of Steve Barraclough, Adam Richards, Craig Edmunds and Nick Crooks, as well as multiple world champion, Bob Nudd, in contributing to the continued development of Browning products and showcasing them on the bank.
