The Big One in Farnborough attracts crowds in excess of 20,000 over the two days. Next year’s show will be bigger and include new features.

The new owner of one of the UK’s biggest consumer fishing shows is on track to build on its success by adding more space to accommodate new features.

Bauer Media, which bought The Big One in February this year, has already announced the introduction of another show in the Midlands to run alongside the forerunner in Farnborough, Hampshire, and has now revealed plans to add an extra 3,000 square metres to the original site that will accommodate a lake and a demonstration area.

There are also long-term aspirations to develop what is currently predominantly a coarse and carp show to an all-encompassing event that includes the game sector.

Patrick Horton, Bauer Media’s Managing Director of Sport and Entertainment, said: “The Big One has a proven formula based on new gear, great deals and fishing celebrities. Now we want to add to that experience with features that make an even greater day out.”

The Hampshire show takes place at Farnborough Airfield from March 23rd to 24th, while its new sister show will be hosted by Stoneleigh Park, in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, on April 13th and 14th.

“We always felt that there was an opportunity to develop not only Farnborough, but to also add another show. The addition of a second event was initially planned further down the line, but there has been a lot of interest and we decided to go earlier than anticipated.

“We have positioned it in the middle of the country where there is a huge catchment area of anglers.”

Tickets are available for both shows at
