Australia’s Super Retail Group, owner of the Boating, Camping, Fishing (BCF) brand of stores, reports that sales have ‘rebounded strongly’ in May as the country gets back to normal following the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has reported that BCF, a major supplier of fishing tackle in the region, helped group like-for-like sales increase by 26.5% in May, adding that it has continued to benefit from the strong consumer environment in June.
The group has also announced that it is looking to raise around $203m in an offer to shareholders to help finance the execution of its strategy and pursuit of growth opportunities.
Super Retail Group CEO and Managing Director Anthony Heraghty told investors: “We are very pleased with our robust trading performance despite COVID-19 and thank our team members for their dedication to the business during the pandemic.
“The execution of our strategy has continued during Coronavirus with our four core brands well positioned to take advantage of shifts in consumer behaviour that have been observed through the pandemic.
“The equity raising enables us to continue the execution of our strategy to further strengthen our omni-retail capabilities and continue to organically grow our four core brands.”
