The Bass Pro Conservation Partner of the Year award, whose previous winners include presidents George Bush and Jimmy Carter, has been bestowed upon Tennessee Wildlife Resources (TWRA) Executive Director, Ed Carter.
The award was presented by Bass Pro founder and CEO, Johnny Morris, at the company’s annual Christmas lunch in Springfield, Missouri, attended by more than 2,000 people.
Carter recently completed a term as President of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA), which represents all state wildlife agencies. Morris praised the Hawkins County native for his many years of service in his field since he joined the TWRA in 1972.
He has been a longtime influencer in the management and conservation of fish and wildlife, their habitats and public involvement in the outdoors.
Earlier this month, Carter received the Seth Gordon Award, the AFWA’s top honour, a lifetime achievement award made for conserving North America’s natural resources in the public trust and for contributing to the Association’s programmes.
