Bass Pro is named second hottest retailer in the USA

Bass Pro has reached its highest ranking in the annual listing in Stores magazine.

Bass Pro has been named the second hottest retailer in America by the world’s largest retail trade association.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) names the outdoor giant just behind Primark but above companies including Build.com, Amazon, Verizon, Dollar General, IKEA, Petsmart and Apple Stores/iTunes in its Hot 100.

The list, published in the NRF’s magazine Stores, is a ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing retailers by year-over-year domestic sales growth.

Bass Pro is no stranger to the Hot 100, but this latest list marks its highest ever ranking.

The company founded by Johnny Morris in his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri in 1972, acquired rival Cabela’s last year. Between them, the two now attract more than 200 million visitors to some 200 retail stores and marine centre locations.

“This recognition is a tribute to all of our remarkable and passionate outfitters who work hard every day to make sure every customer experience is a positive one,” said Morris.

Dick’s Sporting Goods was 46th on the NFR list.
