The parent company of Big Rock Sports has signed a letter of intent to acquire one of its biggest rivals, Maurice Sporting Goods, one of North America’s largest distributors of fishing tackle.
It is contemplated that Maurice Sporting Goods would operate as a stand-alone subsidiary of Peak Global Holdings and a sister company of Big Rock Sports. This would allow the 94-year old company to build on its long-term partnerships with employees, vendors and customers while leveraging the industry expertise and scale of the combined companies.
Maurice Sporting Goods, based in Northbrook, IL, is a family owned wholesaler of sporting goods products in the fishing, hunting, outdoor recreation, marine, sports licensing and outdoor gift categories, serving mass retailers and independent dealers throughout the United States, Canada and other international markets.
Big Rock Sports, also a leading outdoor sporting goods distributor, is focused on supplying more than 15,000 retailers with products from over 1,200 manufacturers. The terms of the deal have not been revealed.
