Shimano says that its ICAST award-winning PowerPro Zero-Impact microfilament braided line gives anglers an extra level of confidence both in fresh and saltwater fishing situations.
Introducing ‘Termination Zone Technology’ to braid, it is available in 20lb to 100lb test strengths – each in 150, 300 and 500 yard spools – in both Hi-Vis Yellow and Aqua Green colours.
PowerPro engineers say that they have been able to set Zero-Impact apart from standard braided line by making the braid 50% stronger in the ‘termination zones’.
Product Manager, Ted Sakai, says: “The 32-inch ‘termination zone’ is a clearly identified black section every 20ft. Normally any braided line on the market loses 30% to 50% of its strength when you make a knot. It’s this black section where you tie the lure, swivel or leader so this impact area is not only stronger, but also provides typically 100% knot strength.
“The key advantage of Zero-Impact is the ability for anglers to tighten up the drag and set the hook hard, giving absolutely zero chance of escape. For bass fishing it is ideal for flipping and punching with that ‘set the hook hard’ capability in heavy weed or casting a frog on grass. When musky fishing, it provides a sense of security when casting big lures with accidental backrushing.
“In saltwater, we had great success casting poppers and the Shimano ORCA pencil baits in open water for tuna. With the drag tightened down, the added knot strength Zero-Impact gives you when you tie onto the leader is a definite fish-catching advantage.”
