Leading European retailer, Angling Direct, has today announced the appointment of Simon Morris as Senior Buyer.
The experienced Morris, previously with Preston Innovations, will focus initially on improving supply chain efficiencies – notably key seller availability – for the fast-growing, Norfolk-based business.
He will also be responsible for refining store stock profiles and meeting local customer needs through liaison with store and area managers.
A keen all-round angler, Morris began his career at Halfords before joining Brundall Angling, where he spent five years. He then joined Leeda brand, Wychwood, as Brand Manager before becoming European Sourcing and UK Category Manager for Pure Fishing.
He joined FPS in the camping industry for a two-year spell as Leisure Product Manager before being recruited by Shimano as UK Sales Manager in 2014. He joined Preston Innovations as Commercial Manager in January of this year.
“Simon’s role will necessarily involve a lot of travel, especially as he will join me in all key supplier meetings and reviews,” said Angling Direct’s Group Commercial Manager, Stewart Downing. “He will be a great asset to the business.”
Morris currently lives in Redditch, but is keen to return to his native Norfolk in due course. He takes up his new position on June 3.
Angling Direct, which recently opened its 27th store, announced a 28.5% hike in like-for-like store sales earlier this year. It also revealed that online orders for February and March were up 27% year-on-year, with strong performances from its German, French and Dutch websites.
