A new hook brand comes with a warning ….only use it if you want to catch more fish!
Zoneloc hooks are the brainchild of Gary Bennis, whose main goal was to create a hook that reduces fish loss. And it’s all about the bend, he says.
The US company’s design incorporates a two-bend offset that according to its creator ‘locks’ the hook in place and results in fewer fish throwing the hook.
“My goal was to radically change the way a hook is made,” explains Bennis.”The unique design of the Zoneloc means that the main bend of the hook pulls into the fish more quickly and then the little bend locks the fish on.”
The launch of the Zoneloc has been given extra impetus by the endorsement of Bassmaster Classic champions, Jay Yelas and Alton Jones.
“Zoneloc hooks are the real deal,” says Yelas. “I have yet to see a fish throw one of these hooks. Retaining more fish can be the difference between having a great day or year and not doing well.”
Jones is equally enthusiastic. “They really stick the fish and help retain them. I caught 160 bass up to 5lb using these hooks and it quickly became apparent that Zoneloc is onto something.
“Lots of hooks are sharp and strong, but I believe this new bend has the additional benefit of retaining a higher percentage of hooked fish. I can’t wait to use them in the Bassmaster Elite Series and at the Classic.”
