The U.S. Department of Interior Secretary, Ryan Zinke, will be the keynote speaker at the world’s biggest boat show in Miami later this month.
Secretary Zinke will address delegates at the Innovation Breakfast on the second day of the 2018 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show on improving boating and fishing access across the U.S.
The organiser of the show, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and its partners in the outdoor industry, have been working with Secretary Zinke to explore ways of enhancing access to the nation’s public waterways since his appointment last year.
Secretary Zinke has been a significant supporter of recreational boating and fishing and recently announced the creation of the Recreation Advisory Committee to help explore how to improve recreational opportunities for Americans.
Thom Dammrich, NMMA President, said: “It’s our honour to welcome Secretary Ryan Zinke to the 2018 Miami International Boat Show as keynote speaker and witness first-hand the impact and forward-thinking of America’s boating and fishing industry.
“The Secretary has demonstrated his commitment to ensuring Americans have robust access to our public lands and waters. He has worked to create a dialogue with the outdoor community to understand our priorities. His keynote is an opportunity to hear directly from the Secretary as he shares his perspective on boating and the outdoors.”
Frank Peterson, President of the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), one of the sponsors of the breakfast, will address delegates on consumer trends to recruit new anglers and boaters at the event.
The show takes place from February 15 to 19.
