Fast-growing Zebco Europe has ensured the reliable delivery of its seven brands for at least the next decade with the opening later this year of a new warehouse.
The German-based fishing tackle manufacturer, has announced that its new facility in Rade, which has excellent motorway links – including to the port of Hamburg – will open for business at the beginning of July. The move has been driven by a more than 50% increase in turnover since 2011.
Managing Director Peter Delwes said: “This development will significantly increase our performance levels. The current external warehouses will be closed and our entire inventory will once again be in a central location. At the same time, the space vacated at our Tostedt site will allow us to quadruple our picking and packaging capacity.”
Two years ago Zebco was able to resolve bottlenecks in deliveries by introducing a two-shift system to make full use of the warehouse. “We are now at a point where we have exhausted the potential of the warehouse,” said Delwes. “In recent weeks we have not been able to satisfy the incredible demand with our familiar short response times. We ask our customers for their understanding. The restructuring was not only inevitable, but it will also leave us well equipped for the next ten years – all the more since the ten metre high warehouse can be extended almost without restriction. In Tostedt, we have extended as much as we can.”
Zebco has also invested in personnel. Four new warehouse workers started this month alongside an experienced warehouse manager and additional personnel from a temporary employment agency.
Delwes added: “Customer satisfaction is our utmost priority. And we can only satisfy this if we have sufficient personnel and warehouse space available.”
