Z-Man Fishing Products, the maker of the original ChatterBait brand of bladed swim jigs, will be using the Bassmaster Classic Expo to launch a new lure.
The Ladson, South Carolina company will be unveiling the ChatterBait Bladed Jig at what its President, Daniel Nussbaum, regards as its most important consumer event of the year. “Consumer attendance and enthusiasm is unparalleled and it is the perfect opportunity for us to inform anglers about our products and explain how to rig and use Z-Man baits,” he said.
As well as having a strong presence at the Expo, Z-Man will be represented in the main event by veteran of 11 Bassmaster Classics, David Walker, and Trevor Lo. Nussbaum added: “David has been in the running for top spot in previous Classics and we feel he has as good a chance as anyone.
“In his last tournament prior to the Classic he finished second and we hope he carries that momentum into this event.”
Lo qualified via the Bassmaster College Series and Nussbaum says: “While Trevor has only fished in a dozen tournaments in his life, he is a sharp young man and a talented angler. We definitely wouldn’t count him out.”
Z-Man has a good record in the Bassmaster Classic with its pro Luke Clausen winning on his very first appearance in 2006 on Lake Toho, Florida. Walker finished third in 2002, while just two years ago the largest single day bag in Classic history was caught by Paul Mueller using the ChatterBait Elite.
“Success in the Classic can definitely give you momentum heading into the selling season,” says Nussbaum. “We saw this two years ago when the ChatterBait Bladed Jig was a factor and demand for it sky rocketed immediately thereafter.
“A top finish by one of our pro staffers or another angler using our products can certainly result in far more exposure than money can buy as success in the tournament often dictates lure trends for the coming year.”
