Browning has a strong pedigree in pole manufacture – and it has enhanced that reputation still further with the introduction of the Xitan Z14-1 model in 2015.
The Zebco Europe brand has built on the huge success of its Z12 pole by using new types of silica reinforced carbon and resins for the first time. The result, says the company, is a competition pole that is significantly stiffer, lighter and stronger than its predecessor.
This is a premium pole for serious anglers demanding the best money can buy. “Every aspect of the Z14 has been optimised,” says Browning. “Even the use of paint has been kept to a minimum because we know that performance is more important than showroom appeal for discerning fishermen.”
The Z14 is built on the same mandrel as the Z12 and reaches 16m without the need for an extension. All the Xitan’s advanced features have been incorporated, along with some totally new ideas.
Square shaped pole protectors, made using a carbon process unique to pole manufacture, make fishing at distance more comfortable and reduce elbow pain. They also give extra length. There are new versions of Browning’s two-hole side pulla tool kits, featuring a bush design that is smooth and reliable without any moving parts.
A one-piece, two-metre top kit is designed for fishing with short rigs or in shallow water. The Z14 can still reach 16m with this kit if the pole protector is used.
After extensive testing, Browning is confident it has produced the most advanced pole that has ever been made available to consumers.
