Danish fishing tackle manufacturer, Westin, used the Czech Republic’s leading tackle show to announce its new star distributor.
At last week’s For Fishing, in Prague, it unveiled top predator and catfish angler, Jakub Vàgner, as its representative in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He is the owner of the largest fishing tackle retail chain in the Czech Republic, two of the country’s biggest carp and predator angling magazines and the only suppler of angling gear to the region’s largest e-store, Alza.
Vàgner’s company has secured an exclusive deal with Westin to sell all its product line in the two countries.
Thomas Sanotra, Westin Product and Marketing Manager, described the agreement as one of the best deals struck by the company. He explained: “Jakub is about as famous as you can get in the region and having him and his business behind our brand is fantastic. He has 110,000 followers on Facebook and pretty well owns the market out there.
“Both the Czech and Slovakian markets are maturing and there is plenty of potential in both the predator and saltwater markets.”
Vàgner told Angling International that he is ideally placed through his stores and media outlets to promote the Westin brand and ensure its success in the region. “We are delighted to represent them.
“Before entering into this agreement many of my predator team of anglers were already using Westin tackle. I admire them as a company because it is a well-established brand with good and smart people. While a lot of companies buy cheap lookalikes from China, Westin really thinks about the industry and is always looking at innovation and introducing new technologies.”
