Westin secures sales deal with Big Rock Sports

Leading European bait manufacturer, Westin, has secured a major deal to have its products sold across the US and Canada by one of the region’s leading distributors of fishing tackle,
Big Rock Sports, which supplies outdoor sporting goods from over 1,200 manufacturers to more than 15,000 retailers, has agreed an exclusive deal with the Danish fishing tackle manufacturer.
Jens Buhl Jørgensen, CEO of Westin’s parent company, Fairpoint Outdoors, described the deal as a ‘unique’ opportunity for the company.
He said: “Entering the US market has been a goal for Westin for a number of years. The United States is home to the biggest sport fishing market in the world and the level of competition is extremely high.
“Partnering with Big Rock Sports is a unique opportunity for our brand in the US market. We look forward to working closely with the Big Rock Sports team in the years to come and will be leveraging this exclusive partnership to develop even more customised products for the US market.”
Best known for lures that target predator fish like pike and muskie, as well as an array of inshore and offshore lures, Westin also offers a solid selection of freshwater baits for bass anglers. “We are very excited to partner with such an innovative brand as Westin and have the opportunity to leverage its intimate knowledge of such an important fishery,” said Big Rock Sports VP of Merchandising, Bob Hunter.
“It’s clear that Westin will continue to bring cutting-edge fishing tackle to market and we will now be able to offer those products to Big Rock Sports customers in both the US and Canada.”
The agreement was announced on the eve of EFTTEX where Westin was exhibiting at the show and where it picked up two runners-up prizes in the Angling International-sponsored Best New Product Awards for Danny the Duck in the hard lure category and the HypoTeez ST 6” in the soft lure section.
