Danish fishing tackle manufacturer Westin will be introducing its new General Sales Manager for North America at this week’s ICAST.
The appointment of Barry Stockhaus has been designed to support the company’s partnership with wholesale distributor Big Rock Sports, which was announced last year. “We are thrilled to have a person with Barry’s qualifications on board,” said Big Rock Vice President of Merchandising, Bob Hunter. “His knowledge and market expertise will surely help to build brand awareness and assist us in catapulting Westin to the next level.”
Westin says that the link between Big Rock and the Danish headquarters is a vital and strategic focal point for the company. “It is really important for us to have some feet on the ground in North America to better support the good job that Big Rock is doing for us,” said Thomas Sanotra, who has taken on a new role as Westin’s Director of Operations.
“Barry has extensive knowledge of the fishing market in North America. He will be able to convey the message about the quality and innovation of Westin lures and our other products to the North American dealers very well.”
Stockhaus started his career at Mepps and Mister Twister in 1995 as Eastern US Sales Manager before joining French lure manufacturer Sébile. When the brand was acquired by Pure Fishing in 2011, he changed roles to Account Manager in the Midwest for the group where he won Salesman of the Year.
Stockhaus said: “The Westin team is a group of passionate anglers like me and I look forward to bringing my knowledge of the North American angler to the company. This will be an exciting journey ahead and I am very glad to be part of it.”
Another part of his role will be to assemble a team of pro anglers to become members of Team Westin North America to further support the marketing message of the brand.
