It’s no secret that many so-called new products are merely marginal improvements on what is already on the market. Sometimes not even that.
But when it comes to making fishing tackle that is genuinely different and offers significant benefits for fishermen, there are few better than Preston Innovations.
Take the UK company’s new-for-2015 OnBox 360, for which the word ‘revolutionary’ does not for once seem an overstatement.
Mark Sawyer, Tackle Editor for Angling Times newspaper, and arguably the UK’s most respected product reviewer, succinctly describes the OnBox as providing ‘the comfort of a chair with the functionality of a seatbox’.
Key feature of the 360 (there’s a clue in the name) is the fully rotating seat, a concept originally developed for feeder fishermen, but which is also appealing to pole anglers, who can change their position to fish down the edge or straight ahead.
As well as providing added comfort, the seat’s cushioned backrest is designed to allow the necessary movement for casting and/or shipping pole sections. It also folds for easy storage.
Below the seat Preston has provided a tackle storage compartment that is compatible with all OnBox and Space Station add-on units. So whatever your preferred type of fishing, you can adapt the box accordingly.
There is a wide, extending leg system capped with good-sized mudfeet to help prevent sinking. An EVA side tray that will take three five-pint bait boxes or accessory boxes is fitted to the legs. When not being used, the tray tucks underneath the leg system and is held by two attachment points. The same points can be used for keepnet connectors or accessory arms.
The 360 comes with a padded carry strap and is in the shops now.
