The new-for-2018 Okuma Epixor XT Spinning reel is designed to deliver top-of-the-line performance and great value in one package.
Reels in the series are constructed using the Californian company’s new long-strand carbon fibre technology (which means the fibres are elongated and reinforced) to create a ‘substantially stronger’ composite than standard graphite, yet is 25% lighter.
Designed with a high-focus on function, the Okuma Epixor XT features a Torsion Control Armor to resist twist and torque and a slow oscillation system that reduces twisting and ensures proper line lay.
The sub $75 reel also offers a carbon fibre drag knob to further reduce weight and create a progressive drag setting. It is fitted with Okuma’s Centrifugal Disc Bail (CDB), a new design that incorporates a heavier brass disc weighted for smoother and easier bail operation, increasing the strength and stability of the bail function.
The price-conscious performance is also enhanced by a graphite bail arm with a metal disk embedded, avoiding the risk of corrosion and electro difference between the bail wire and tradition zinc bail arm.
There are three models available weighing 7.3gm, 8.8kg and 10.7kg, all with a gear ratio of 5:1 and with seven ball bearings and one roller bearing.
