T-Pac stands for travel pack and is the name for the new range of five and six piece Lxi travel rods from Guideline.
The quality of travel rods has improved immensely in recent years, graduating from novelty items to high quality products valued for their performance as well as their convenience.
Guideline’s Lxi series has been thoroughly tested throughout 2014, including a recent day in the hands of Hakan Norling and Mikael Frodin on Sweden’s River Em. The rods were put through their paces by hard fighting sea trout and salmon and both anglers were impressed by their build quality and performance.
“There is a lot of power in the butt section,” said Norling. “The casting power comes from the lower part of the rod. The rods also have a fast action.”
All nine models in the range are fitted with lightweight Recoil rings and high-grade Portuguese cork handles. The reel seats have been specially made for the rods, with the position of the sliding hook fixed for easy alignment of the reel foot.
The series comprises three 10’ rods [#7, five piece, #8, five piece and #9, five piece]; three 11’ 6” switch rods (# 6/7, five piece, # 7/8, five piece and #8/9, five piece]; and three six piece rods [12’ 9” # 8/9, 13’ 9” # 9/10 and 14’ 9” # 10/11]. The rods became available in the shops from December 2014.
