Ireland’s Ullcatch Fishing, the maker of the Bait Weaver tool, has returned from its first ever visit to EFTTEX with new distributors signed up for the UK and Italy. MD Martin McGowan has also confirmed that he is close to agreeing a deal with one of Germany’s leading players following a whirlwind three days in Warsaw.
The Bait Weaver is an ingenious device for easily dispensing bait elastic whenever it is needed. It is already on sale in Ireland, Belgium and Holland and will be reaching stores in the UK and Italy within days.
The deal for the UK is with Leeda, the country’s biggest distributor of fishing tackle, and was agreed with a phone call even as Martin was navigating the aisles at EFTTEX.
“I’d met with representatives from Leeda in May and they were very enthusiastic about the Bait Weaver,” he told Angling International. “They did some market research and I was delighted to receive my first purchase order while in Warsaw. Bait Weavers will be reaching UK retailers within the next few days.”
Italy will also be coming on stream this Summer thanks to a deal with Scorziello Sasa Srl agreed at EFTTEX. “I had a good meeting with Antonio Scorziello, the MD, and the company’s Export Manager, Francesco D’Andrea, and within a week of arriving home from EFTTEX, they had made contact to place their first order.”
McGowan has also confirmed that he has strengthened his distribution in Holland by signing with his Belgian partner, Ultracast. The next step is to find distributors in France, Spain and Portugal.
