The Tackle & Guns Show, once an annual fixture on the UK trade calendar, could be making a return.
Nick Marlow, the owner of Tackle & Guns magazine, the publication that spawned the event, is considering resurrecting it next year.
Marlow, who has experience in show production as well as media, purchased Tackle & Guns magazine from previous owner, David Hall Publishing (DHP), which has since come under new ownership.
DHP had already said that it would not be running the show in 2017. It also closed or sold some of its publications and lost the editors of its two trade titles in a turbulent year.
Marlow revealed his plans in the latest issue of his magazine. “The last couple of shows run by the previous owner were a bit of a disaster,” he says. “But there is still a sentiment that as a trade we need a trade show.
“I want to bring back a show where you will write business and where shops will discover new products that will make their businesses boom.”
Marlow, who revealed his plan after talking to dealers at manufacturer trade shows up and down the country, revealed that he is already negotiating with a possible venue and is looking at an October 2018 date.
“Dealers struggle to attend all the shows out there,” he added. “But it’s difficult for them to take a dozen or so days away from their businesses. A new T&G show would mean they only have to take one day away to see suppliers and discover new products that will keep their tills ringing.”
