Slow-dissolving but highly potent boilies are the talk of the UK trade thanks to the heavy advanced publicity by Old Ghost for its award-winning Double-layered boilies.
The Chinese bait giant says the first shipments of its Double-layered boilies are due in the UK in March. But if you can’t wait that long, there is an alternative. A little-known UK bait maker says it has something that works on the same principles, has been tested to perfection on UK waters and is available for delivery right now. Enquiries from other countries in Europe are also welcome.
South East Baits says it has perfected its very own coated boilies. They dissolve slowly and spread their natural particles and flavours far into the water for up to two hours.
The boilies are the brainchild of company founder Peter Ripley, a former professional in the pharmaceutical industry. Feedback from UK anglers suggests Ripley has a world-beating bait on his hands.
At its official launch at last year’s The Big One show, South East Baits sold out its entire sample range. Since then, in field tests, the coated boilies have been responsible for at least one lake record, three personal bests and countless fish over 30lb.
“The most fish in one session has been 30,” says Ripley. “The first was caught after just five minutes. Carp World magazine said our baits have to be seen to be believed. We agree. These are outstanding carp catchers.”
South East Baits currently sells its coated boilies by mail order and through a limited number of shops. It is now looking to sell through tackle shops nationwide.
“All the bait we have sold mail order has been at the full retail price, so we know anglers are willing to pay at the going rate,” adds Ripley. “We want to supply the retail trade and we intend to make every effort to generate new accounts.
“Retailers should know we have the ability to produce boilies in their preferred flavours and colours and in sizes from 6mm to 24mm. We have a wide range of options including uncoated boilies, and we can coat all or part of any order.”
South East Baits adds that it is launching a website in the new year, which it will use primarily to advertise its baits to anglers.
