TUF-Line owner now blossoming at EFTTEX
US line manufacturer Western Filament, the owner of the TUF-Line brand, has come a long way since it became one of the first American companies to exhibit at EFTTEX.
Its debut 15 years ago could not have started in a worse fashion as neither the company’s booth nor products arrived at the destination, leaving Rex Nelson (pictured right with Sales and Marketing Manager Eric Knickerbocker), to sit out the three days of the event behind a bare desk with just a couple of catalogues for the company.
Nelson, Managing Director of Western Filament, remembers it all too well. “It wasn’t the best start, but an offshoot of it was that a lot of people stopped by to sympathise and make sure I was okay.”
Now TUF-Line is firmly established across Europe as a maker of high performance braided fishing line with extensive distribution in the region thanks to is appearances at EFTTEX. Nelson also revealed that his first agreement signed at the show was with a Finnish company that still represents the brand to this day.
“Although there is a lot of competition out there, TUF-Line has done pretty well wherever it has been sold. This has been underpinned by our experience in the marketplace – we are coming up to our 80th year – and the integrity and trust garnered through our involvement in the aerospace industry.”
He added that current distribution targets across Europe include Italy, Russia and Hungary.
