The owner of fishing tackle distributor Kolder-Canada, Wayne Pretty, has died at the age of 75.
A former President of Abu Garcia, Wayne started the Toronto-based sales agency, Kolder-Canada, in 1985, since when it has become one of the major suppliers of fishing and hunting accessories in the country.
Bruce Stanton, Vice President and General Manager of PRADCO-Fishing, paid tribute to Wayne. “He was the owner of Kolder-Canada and represented PRADCO brands in Canada for 33 years. He was a frequent visitor to the PRADCO booth at ICAST and our annual sales meetings over the past several decades.
“Wayne was a gentleman and wise person. He knew how to read people and customers and was a tremendous asset to PRADCO over the years.
“He was also a very avid golfer and enjoyed spending time in the Caribbean to perfect his craft. A sporting goods buyer long before his career in the rep business, his experience helped him see the business through the eyes of a buyer.
“He was also a strong family man and loved his wife, Judy, and seeing his son, Kevin, grow up in the business at Kolder. More recently he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play and excel at sports.
“He was very well connected and respected in the fishing tackle business in Canada and was a mentor and teacher to many of us young, or formerly young, salesmen. He was a very good friend to us and we will miss him.”
