Magazine puts big spending anglers in reach of retailers

The second issue of international consumer magazine Fishing & Travel is set to be mailed to subscribers next month, and it presents a golden opportunity to tackle retailers around the world, according to Editor Julien Lajournade.

Fishing & Travel is aimed at big spending anglers who seek new destinations for fishing adventures. The second issue will highlight big pike fishing in Quebec, fly fishing on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula and popper fishing for bull shark in Panama. Other featured destinations include Madagascar, Morocco, India and Rodrigues Island near Mauritius. But it is the opportunity to reach a global audience of cash-rich hardcore anglers that should excite tackle retailers, says Lajournade.

“Our readers are dedicated to enjoying fishing to the absolute maximum,” he told Angling International. “That means the most exciting destinations but also the best and most reliable tackle.

Fishing & Tackle subscribers are willing to spend big on top of the range gear from famous brands, but also on new brands from other markets outside their home countries. Anything to get an edge when fishing a new location.

“It could be an American angler buying a hi-tech Japanese rod or reel or a fisherman from Europe looking for US-styled saltwater lures for his next big trip. The magazine is mailed all over the world. For retailers who sell tackle to international customers or even those looking to widen their customer base in their domestic market, the potential is huge.”

Major tackle brands are already seeing the potential of Fishing & Travel for reaching anglers around the world. The magazine was warmly received when it was launched to the trade at EFTTEX, and more brands have signed up to advertise in issue two. “The trade is genuinely excited by the audience we are offering,” added Lajournade.

“We are targeting the biggest spenders in angling wherever they are in the world. They are consumers who we know will spend money this year on tackle. And we are holding their attention with articles on global destinations that excite them. It is the perfect stage for a product launch or to promote your brand.”
