Danish fishing tackle manufacturer Westin has made two additions to its team in Europe.

Dr Paul Garner, one of the UK’s leading lure anglers, and Andreas Zachbauer, one of Austria’s most active predator fishermen, have joined Team Westin.

Garner is among the best known angling writers in the UK and was instrumental in bringing modern lure fishing to the region through his magazine articles, talks and online presence.

“Having followed Westin’s progress over several years, I am very proud to have been asked to join the company,” said Garner. “UK anglers ‘in the know’ are aware of the fantastic track record of Westin products that have set a benchmark in quality and effectiveness.

“We are at the beginning of what I believe will be a tremendous success story for the brand in the region, mirroring what it has already achieved in many other countries.”

Zachbauer is well known throughout social media in Austria and also for his fishing films, lectures at angling trade fairs and his involvement in integration projects for refugees interested in angling.

He said: “I have been looking for a new challenge for a while. At Westin I have found it and a new fishing home. I am very much looking forward to my functions in promoting the brand.”

Born in the upper Austrian town of Linz, Zachbauer has targeted predators since his childhood, fishing primarily the River Danube and its meadows at the Enns on Attersee.
