The Target Cranker, the latest in the Mojo Bass series of rods from Wisconsin manufacturer St. Croix, is designed to combine casting accuracy with a forgiving action that helps keep fish on the hook.
The rod is one of three built from 100% linear S-Glass lightweight blanks, which, says St. Croix, are ideal for fishing treble-hook lures like crankbaits.
The 6’ 10” Target Cranker is fitted with a Fuji ECS reel seat coupled with a split-grip, premium-grade cork handle and thin-ring, aluminium-oxide guides wrapped with nylon thread.
Bassmaster Elite pro James Niggemeyer has used the rod and is a big fan. “I love this rod – it’s as simple as that. Its shorter length allows me to cast a crankbait in close quarters and lets me work the lure around structure,” Niggemeyer reports.
“Also, the tip is forgiving when a fish hits close to the boat, so the hook doesn’t rip free. The Target Cranker is definitely the right rod for crankbait-specific fishing.”
The entire Mojo Bass 17-rod series carries a five-year warranty. The mid-priced rods are designed and engineered in Park Falls, Wisconsin, and built in the St. Croix facility in Fresnillo, Mexico.
