European fishing tackle giant Svendsen Sport has announced changes to its distribution operations in Spain and Poland.
The Danish-based company has set up its own operation in Poland and appointed PSK Sport of Barcelona to look after the sales of all its brands, including Savage Gear, Prologic, and Scierra, in Spain. PSK Sport had previously worked alongside Daiwa for more than two decades before ending its agreement at the end of last year.
Carlos Jaenada, Sales Director of PSK Sport, said: “We have been watching Okuma, Savage Gear and other Svendsen Sport brands’ successful journey all over the world and found this to be the perfect match for our company to maintain and increase our business even further in the Iberian market.
“We have been in close contact recently with the Okuma and Savage Gear product teams and are eager to launch the programme for 2016 – including products made specially for our market.”
Michael Lund Pedersen, Okuma and Svendsen Sport European Export Manager, said: “Both Okuma and Svendsen Sport are very proud to work with PSK Sport in the future. The company constitutes by far the best choice of business partner in these markets especially when you consider its long history and experience, combined with a very strong distribution network.”
In Poland Svendsen Sport has set up a base that consists of a team of five sales reps, office staff and a marketing team, which is being managed by Rafal Faruga, who originally founded SPORT-FISH, Svendsen’s former distributor in Poland.
Lars Svendsen, Svendsen Sport Managing Director, explained: “For several years we have seen healthy growth in Poland, especially through our Savage Gear and Prologic brands, thanks to a very good and strong cooperation with Rafal and his team. However, Poland is one of the major markets in Europe and with the support of Rafal we wanted to take the business a step further, including massive investments in sales, marketing, pro-staffs and local product development.
“In April we will open a large central European warehouse in Stettin, Poland, which will replace our Svendsen Sport and DAM facilities in Denmark and Germany. It should provide an improved and quicker service to the Polish retailers.”
Rafal Faruga, the new Svendsen Sport Country Manager said: “We have been very happy working with Svendsen Sport’s brands over the last seven years, but with the new set-up and the logistic and financial power of Svendsen Sport, we see great potential for further growth. I am glad to continue with my present successful team of sales and marketing people and I’m excited about the new and very aggressive plans we have formulated together.”
