Shimano reaffirmed its position as the world’s number one reel maker by winning the Best New Fixed Spool Reel Award at EFTTEX in Amsterdam. It took the prize with its new Aero Technium Msg 10000. At last year’s EFTTEX Shimano was successful in the Spinning Reel category with its Stella FE.
Meanwhile, there was plenty to celebrate in Germany with German-based companies Zebco Europe and Vosseler coming out on top in the Best New Multiplier Reel and Best New Fly Reel categories.
Zebco Europe’s Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Frerk Petersen, was delighted after his company’s success in the Multiplier Reel category with the Fin-Nor Marquesa.
He said: “We are proud as this confirms that investing in our own reel factory was the right decision by Zebco US.
“This has allowed us to have full control of quality and engineering. The Marquesa 2-Speed is surely one of the nicest sea multipliers ever built so the decision of the judges did not surprise me.”
Vosseler won the Best New Fly Reel Award for its Vosseler Tryst. Ralf Vosseler said: “We are very happy with the award as it demonstrates further the difference in quality of European-made products compared to those from China.
“Its special carbon fibre and titanium structure makes it very light, but also very strong. We believe it is a very special reel.”
Commended in the reel sections were the Wychwood Flow (Fly), Okuma Komodo Baitcaster (Multiplier) and Okuma Trio Baitfeeder (Fixed Spool).
