Sea Lime Fishing Lures has taken a top innovation award at the world’s biggest boat show.
The Tampa, Florida company won the fishing equipment, gear and tackle category at the 2017 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show Innovation Awards for its Sea Lime trolling lure.
The company’s founder and owner, Clint Owens, said that the Sea Lime lure caught the judge’s attention thanks to its channeled water technology that allows the flow to go through the bait instead of around it. “Most offshore fishing lures are made with rigid plastic or have paddle tails or spoon bills that give them a somewhat stiff, unrealistic and almost toy-like motion,” he said.
“Sea Lime’s fluid, lifelike movement imitates the realistic action of a baitfish. It has interchangeable bodies so that both the colour and pattern can be customised in a snap for the specific trophy fish being pursued. There is no bigger thrill than offshore fishing and the exhilaration when the squeal of a line breaks the early morning silence. That’s an experience we hope fishing enthusiasts will enjoy more often with Sea Lime.”
The lure is made of stainless steel, lead, polypropylene, polycarbonate and Mylar bodies that are pliable, flexible and naturally reflective. Completely new to the fishing lure industry, the Mylar body is what is said to give it a true-to-life movement when combined with the channeled water technology.
