ICAST award-winner Savage Gear USA has secured one of the biggest ever single orders in its history in the US from one of the country’s top big box stores.
The Svendsen Sport predator brand signed a deal during the Orlando show that will see its lures in over 650 Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream stores across North America.
The formidable distribution agreement was brokered by the Danish fishing tackle manufacturer’s representative in North America, Okuma, and will see products, including its innovative frogs, ducks and rats, available to anglers in the biggest recreational fishing market in the world.
The deal was signed on the eve of the ICAST New Product Showcase where Savage Gear sealed a trans-Atlantic double when it won the best hard lure category with its 3D Suicide Duck – a product that scooped the same prize at EFTTEX just two weeks earlier as well as that show’s Visitor’s Choice and Best in Show categories.
Savage Gear Product Manager Mads Grosell told Angling International: “We are delighted to have wrapped up a deal like this. It gives me great satisfaction. I am surprised how fast things are moving for us now after working so hard over the last decade to get where we currently are.
“Dick’s appreciates Savage Gear’s fast development and innovative approach on traditional lures. We are looking forward to the challenge of working alongside the company and introducing more new products to the American market.”
Grosell added that shipping of its lures will start in early November in time for late fall.
