Award-winning US fly rod brand Sage has followed in the footsteps of its two Far Bank Enterprises stablemates and appointed the same distributor in Argentina.
Following encouraging performances by RIO Products and Redington in the South American country, against a backdrop of a challenging economic and political environment, Sage has appointed Cordoba-based Federico Prato as its representative in the country.
Both RIO and Redington have enjoyed a long term relationship with Prato, Redington’s stretching back to 2003.
“Argentina is an increasingly significant area for fly fishing business and since Federico already works with Far Bank, this is a natural fit for Sage. His ability to be a stellar ambassador for the sector will prove beneficial to Sage’s business and we greatly look forward to working with him,” said Sage Marketing Manager Simon Gawesworth.
In the South American market Sage has been long established in Chile and also enjoys sales in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru. Gawesworth added that the company is also looking further afield at the ‘tantalising’ market opportunities in China and other regions in Southeast Asia. “Fly fishing appears to be in the early stages there and it will be interesting to see how it develops,” he said.
