Sage adapts Konnetic technology to create new ESN rod for nymph fishing
Sage Manufacturing has developed a new category of fly rod using Konnetic™ technology.
The ESN (European Style Nymph) has been designed to suit most styles of European nymph fishing, which is also gaining popularity in North America.
As heavy fishing pressure pushed trout out into open feeding areas in faster, choppier waters that are protected by rocks, the Europeans developed a style of direct line nymphing using multiple, weighted flies fished under tension on light tippets.
Konnetic technology allows for a very slim profile and extremely light rod that makes the ESN ideal for repetitive casts that this precision method requires.
Sage adds that ESN’s supple, sensitive tip improves feeling the take. It also has a backbone powerful enough to quickly set the hook and land the fish.
The ESN was designed around a brand new taper that is made with a unique compound-tapered mandrel that gives the rod sensitivity at the tip and strength in the butt section.
