Russell makes Plano Synergo bow at ICAST

Well-known industry figure Chris Russell made a first appearance for his new company, Plano Synergy, on the ICAST show floor yesterday. Russell’s appointment as Marketing Manager – Fish for the multi-brand business was announced on the eve of the show.

Previously with Shimano America and Wright & McGill, Russell is briefed to lead critical marketing activities to support the Plano and Frabill brands.

His responsibilities include overseeing product promotions, catalogue and asset creation, trade show representation, advertising, social media and editorial outreach. He will work under Plano Synergy VP of Marketing, Pete Angle.

“My challenge is to communicate the commitment and passion of Plano and Frabill in ways that appeal to an increasingly diverse pool of customers,” said Russell, who has also served on the ASA’s Communications and ICAST committees.

Russell dropped some hints about what is in store for visitors to ICAST when he said: “Plano has some really exciting tackle storage ideas coming out at the show especially if you happen to be a kayak angler.”

Pete Angle pointed to Russell’s 16-year history in the industry. “We are exceptionally pleased to be able to put Chris’s expertise, positive outlook and proven abilities to work,” he said.

Russell, a lifelong angler, will be based at the company’s headquarters in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Plano helped create the tackle storage and management category in 1952, while Frabill has engineered open water and ice fishing tackle for almost 80 years.
