Rod builders look to prestigious Mud Hole prize

An annual competition run by US company Mud Hole is helping to boost the expanding custom rod building sector.
The Oviedo, Florida-based company, which provides products and components to more than 100 countries, has been running its Calendar Contest for five years.
Custom rod builders are invited to submit photographs of their favourite work for a coveted place on the calendar. Thirteen are selected – one for each month plus the cover.
“It’s been an amazing success and gets harder to judge every year,” said Mud Hole Vice President, Scott Gimbert. “Entries can feature any aspect of custom rod building or tackle crafting. The calendar will be loaded with great ideas from our talented friends in the expanding custom rod building community.”
Last year’s winners included entries from Ukraine, Australia, British Columbia, Serbia and various US states. The 2015 winners, which will be announced during October. Each receive cash rewards, but it’s the kudos of being featured on the calendar that is the real prize.
