RigRap, the US manufacturer of rig storage systems, has appointed the UK company, FishingMatters, to handle distribution in Europe.
Company founder Glen Oberacker told Angling International that the agreement with FishingMatters owner Mark Hamnett (pictured) was a key factor in growing export sales.
“Mark has great knowledge and know-how when it comes to the European market and I am sure he will be a big asset,” said Oberacker. “I look forward to providing products for all the different European fishing styles. RigRap is perfect for carp fishing and other disciplines where rig storage is important.”
Oberacker has prioritised Central America, Japan and China as other key targets for growth, and is currently discussing a possible distribution deal in eastern Europe. “There is nothing else out there like RigRap,” he added.
RigRap, was first introduced to the fishing industry in 2013 and has quickly grown the line to include 14 different products and 15 SKUs. The tangle-free storage solutions are colour-coded and come in a wide range of sizes.
FishingMatters is owner of the Partridge of Redditch and Cox & Rawle hook brands and also distributes top names, including American Fishing Wire, Vosseler and HI-SEAS.
In another coup, RigRap has signed Bassmaster Classic Champion Randy Howell to its pro staff team. The alliance came about after Howell posted a complimentary comment about RigRap on Twitter.
‘It took me a while to realise this was actually the Bassmaster Classic champion. I was really thrilled,” confessed Oberacker.
“RigRap is one of the best ideas for storage I have ever seen,” said Howell on joining the company. “It allows me to pre-tie and have any number of rigs to hand and not have to worry about tangled drop shot or Carolina rigs.”
Howell will promote the company’s current line of products as well as assisting with the development of specialty rig storage solutions for the bass market.
“I’m confident Randy will significantly assist with building our brand for many years to come,” said Oberacker. “I look forward to developing new and exciting products with Randy’s input.”
RigRap’s marketing efforts have been further boosted for the coming year by TV product placements and title sponsorships.
