Richard Wheatley is celebrating 100 years of producing printed fly boxes with the launch of a new limited edition.
Inspired by the original 1913 tin plate Loch Leven Eyed Fly Box, the anniversary version replicates the original engraved image in an attractive dark green printed on natural finish aluminium.
The 4.75-inch box, which will only be available for 12 months, is the first design to come from Richard Wheatley’s new Somerset workshop.
“It encapsulates our credo as a heritage brand and celebrates the company’s record for innovation,” said Clive Edwards, Managing Director at Richard Wheatley.
“We were trendsetters 100 years ago and wanted to recreate this classic box with modern production techniques. This 2014 version has been printed using the very latest pad printing technology and looks superb. Not only do they look great, they are also fully functioning fly boxes with a choice of four different interiors to suit the modern fisherman.”
To add further interest for tackle collectors, Richard Wheatley has inserted an original Loch Leven Eyed Fly Box in one in every 100 of the new range.
