Resurgent brands boost Svendsen Sport UK

Svendsen Sport UK has posted another year of sales growth following a resurgence of its Prologic and Scierra brands.

The company’s UK Country Manager Richard Taylor, who joined Danish fishing tackle manufacturer in November last year, told Angling International that the business has benefited from new product in its carp and fly fishing operations, allowing it to apply more focus in these areas and grow the sales.

He said: “When I joined the company there was nothing that immediately needed solving. The company was already successful. It was a matter of building on what we already had in place. Savage Gear has been hugely successful over the years and is now one of – if not the – strongest predator brand in the UK and Europe.

“However, we had and still have a lot more potential in Prologic and Scierra within the UK market.

“One of the big plusses at Scierra was a new clothing range that performed really well.

“At Prologic there have been a number of winners in the range including the SMX Alarms, Firestarter luggage, alongside shelters and rods. We will continue that focus across all three brands with a swathe of new products over next year.”

The company has just completed its 2016 catalogue and Taylor revealed that it includes 1,273 newcomers to the range.

Taylor added that he was confident Svendsen Sport UK could build on its growth in the coming 12 months and was looking to add to its salesforce as well as bringing in a marketing function to build on the success of the brands in the UK.
