Rapala, Shimano and Ockert notched up success in the three line categories at the EFTTEX Best New Product Awards.

For Rapala – Best New Monofilament winner – and Shimano – Best New Braid – it was their second success of the EFTTEX Gala Evening, having also taken accolades in the Best New Apparel and Best New Fixed Spool Reel categories respectively.

German company Ockert scooped the Best New Fly Line Award for its Climax SuperFine Tip Lines. The company’s Export Manager, Christian Rademann, said: “It was a very good surprise for us. It is the only nymph fishing fly line on the market – no other exists.

“It has a real function and we believe it will capture the market for a popular fishing technique.”

Rapala Area Sales Manager, Enrico Ravenni, said: “The Sufix 832 has been a real hit since its introduction and extending it into the carp market was a logical move.

“We are delighted that the 832 Advanced Carp SuperLine has picked up and carried on the success of the Sufix 832 series.”

Shimano enjoyed success in the braided category with its Power Pro Super 8 Slick – a line described by the judges as the ‘perfect line for the perfect cast’.

Commended in the three categories were the Mercan Euphrates (Monofilament), Sufix Arma-Core Hooklink (Braided) and Snowbee XS ‘Switch’ Floating Fly Line (Fly Line).
