Rapala has declared its intention to take a bigger slice out of the global carp market by setting out ambitious growth plans for its accessories brand, Carp Spirit.
Carp Spirit will be heavily promoted at EFTTEX in Brussels in June, and Rapala will be calling on dealers and distributors to make direct enquiries about stocking its ranges in 2015.
Carp Spirit, which offers all items of tackle except rods and reels, is particularly well known in France, where sales exceeded two million euros in 2013. There has been less penetration in the rest of Europe – until now.
Says Rapala’s Group Carp Manager, Craig Wood: “Carp Spirit offers every kind of accessory for carp anglers, from camping gear to terminal tackle. Sales in France have been strong for some time and the brand is also doing very well in Germany. Anglers like that we deliver high quality fishing gear at the right price. We can do this because we have strong expertise in carp fishing backed by the buying power of Rapala.”
The latest Carp Spirit products will be on show at EFTTEX alongside launches for carp anglers from ACE, the line brand Sufix and Dynamite Baits.
They include a new heavy-duty padded rod holder big enough to comfortably accommodate six fully set-up rods, described by Wood as ‘probably the only one of its kind’. Also aimed at hardcore carpers committed to long sessions on the bank are the Colossal bedchair and an easy-to-set-up, ultra-strong Dolmen in khaki green.
Adds Wood: “We are convinced that, alongside our other carp brands, Carp Spirit has the potential to be a big success all across Europe and in the rest of the world.
“Carp Spirit is perfect for any dealer or distributor looking for a one-stop shop for carp accessories from terminal tackle to tents, all backed by Rapala’s delivery network. I’m looking forward to making contact with interested buyers at EFTTEX.”
