Randi Swisher is to leave the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) following a major restructuring of the organisation that coincides with its relocation to Bozeman, Montana.
The move also follows hot on the heels of AFFTA’s decision to share the Las Vegas venue for its International Fly Tackle Dealer (IFTD) show with ICAST. Swisher – IFTD Show Director – is set to assume a new job within the fly fishing industry.
AFFTA President, Ben Bulis – working with ICAST Show Director, Kenneth Andreas – will assume overall responsibility for IFTD show logistics, marketing, booth sales and floor plans.
“I am honoured to have been associated with AFFTA and the production of IFTD for the past few years,” said Swisher. “I have enjoyed working with people in all facets of the industry and look forward to my new challenge ahead.”
Swisher, who joined AFFTA nearly four years ago, led the organisation through several pivotal events during his tenure, including the relaunch of IFTD in 2008 and its recent partnership with ICAST.
Bulis said: “Randi’s work with AFFTA and IFTD has put the association in a great position for the future. I look forward to continuing what Randi has built, growing the show and increasing both manufacturer participation and retailer attendance.”
AFFTA Chairman, Jim Klug said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for both AFFTA and Randi Swisher. The new position Randi has been offered is a great opportunity for him both professionally and personally. The timing is perfect as AFFTA has just moved office and staff to Bozeman and hired Sarah Grigg as Administrative Assistant to assume day-to-day responsibilities of running the office alongside Ben Bulis.”
