An artist’s impression of what the new Hardy headquarters in Northumberland, UK, would look like.

Hardy & Greys could be on the move from its current  home in the UK.

The Pure Fishing brand is currently situated on the Willowburn Trading Estate in Alnwick, but a new proposal could see the company move into new purpose-built facility in the Northumberland town.

If planning permission is granted, the complex will include a new head office, manufacturing facilities, a showroom and a retail outlet at Cawledge on the outskirts of the town.

The idea is a joint venture between Northumberland Estates and Pure Fishing and would see investment in bigger and better facilities on land owned by the Estates, which is earmarked for development.

The company’s current home has been the subject of a planning wrangle for over a year. A proposal to convert the site to residential use has twice been refused by county councilors, although the application is subject to an appeal.

However, according to the Estates, Hardy’s own planning application will go ahead regardless of the result of the appeal.

Hardy & Greys has been in Alnwick since 1972 and is one of the largest employers in the town with more than 100 staff.

Its parent company, Pure Fishing, was earlier this year put up for sale after being deemed surplus to requirements by its US owner, Newell Brands.
