It is almost 60 years since Panther Martin introduced the first swimbaits to the American market, but the brand’s spirit of innovation and improvement lives on. The company’s 2015 catalogue contains no less than 63 different new lures.
The Panther Martin mission sounds simple: to be sure that its lures are the best of their kind and that they catch fish. But maintaining its status at the forefront of such a competitive sector has meant hard work, imagination and a lot of listening for owners Cecil and John Hoge.
Anglers of all kinds, dealers, pro staffers, guides, mom and pop stores and big box retailers contribute ideas and feedback that have helped keep the brand one step ahead when it comes to market trends and product development.
The latest product line includes new patterns in the company’s Vibrant Image, Salmon and Steelhead and Muskie MaraBuck patterns, plus two new kits, all of which feature Panther Martin’s patented FishSeeUV technology.
There are three new Vibrant Image patterns, with each one living up to its name. These eye-catching lures feature a UV-enhanced iridescent pearl finish and striking graphics to maximise attraction. The new additions, says Panther Martin, will be particularly effective for trout, bass, crappie, perch and all gamefish. The Vibrant Image spinners also come in a kit containing three differently coloured, size four (1/8 ounce) models.
The new Salmon and Steelhead Hammered Spinners are larger and more colourful than their predecessors. Combined with a UV painted finish, the hammered blade adds a new dimension to the lure’s attraction as it shimmers and glimmers through the water. These lures also send out the sonic vibrations for which Panther Martin spinners are well known, creating a real presence when fished for salmon and steelhead. Each lure is fitted with a salmon egg bead, an easy to replace split ring hook attachment and black nickel Eagle Claw hooks. A hammered three-lure pack is also available.
Panther Martin has gone large with its new Muskie MaraBuck models. These big, brash spinners (1oz and 1.5oz) are for giant muskie and feature the company’s famous convex/concave blade, an oversized body and an Eagle Claw treble hidden in a puffy explosion of hand-tied, UV-treated marabou and bucktail. Panther Martin recommends these resplendent, fluorescent baits for pike as well as muskie.
