Fly fishing and outdoor retailer Orvis has appointed William R. McLaughlin as its new president. McLaughlin, a former PepsiCo executive and CEO of the specialty retailer, Select Comfort Corporation, succeeds Raymond G. McCready.
Announcing the change, Orvis CEO Perk Perkins said that McLaughlin was ‘beautifully aligned’ to the company’s purpose, personality and guiding beliefs. “Bill fits our culture like a glove. He is a proven leader with a passion for brand building and customer-centric retail experiences,” added Perkins.
Orvis, which has grown its bricks and mortar business to more than 70 stores in the US and 20 in the UK, was attracted by McLaughlin’s retail credentials and his interest in fly fishing. He managed several of Pepsi’s international businesses and at Select Comfort Corporation he grew sales from $250m to $800m.
McLaughlin takes up his new role on July 7th. Outgoing president McCready plans to retire later this year.
