Ockert, the German line and rod manufacturer, has acquired the Kryston brand from UK-based The Angling Group, owned by Steve Tasker.
Founded in 1988 by well-known carp angler Dave Chilton, Kryston became famous in the carp fraternity for its hook-lengths and rigs.
Its wide range of popular products include Quicksilver, Snake-bite, Silk-worm and Merlin hook-lengths, which have been used to break numerous world records. The business was acquired by The Angling Group in 2015.
The manufacture of Kryston products is being moved to Germany, with The Angling Group handling all sales and marketing in the UK. The brand is seen as a perfect fit with Ockert’s capabilities and brands.
“Kryston has effectively been off the market for a while, but it is an iconic brand with highly regarded products and an exceptional reputation in the worldwide carp community,” said Ockert’s Managing Director, Jan Willenbruch.
“Now product development is a priority and there are good opportunities for that under such a strong brand.”
Kryston will be officially relaunched at June’s EFTTEX trade show in Budapest, where new packaging and products will be revealed.
